You hear the sounds of your enemies approach from the Blackscale camp. Sejik quickly heals his wounds, but otherwise, there is no time to rest. Taveah, Sejik and Miklos move to defensive positions behind the huts and await their arrival. Morthos again lies in wait on one of the mud hut roofs, while Kirin steps into the other hut ready to attack through the window.
Kirin spots the large shadow of the Blackscale within the treeline. He summons an arc of flame and hurls it at the creature. The Blackscale reels in pain but continues its approach.
The Gorillon bursts through the treeline crushing the ground before it. It howls in furious anger. It slams its four powerful fists into the dirt and charges Kohl. Kohl steels himself for the imminent onslaught.
The Gorillon leaps over the campfire and meets the biting edge of Kohl‘s waraxe. Bone and flesh are sliced open. The Gorrillon screams in agony. It’s life’s blood stains its white fur in a crimson torrent. The beast swipes at Kohl’s head, but the harrowing attack glances off Kohl’s helmet. Rage fills the Gorillon’s eyes. It strikes again with its lower claws and finally seizes Kohl by the arms.
Kohl‘s armor buckles under the strength of the beast’s grasp. He tries to escape the creature’s grip and kicks the beast solidly in the groin. The Gorillon growls and squeezes tighter. Kohl’s arms ache under the crushing force.
Before anyone can react, the menacing form of the Blackscale emerges from the jungle along with its lizard pets. It rushes for the door to Kirin’s hut and hisses for two of its three pets to engage the rest of you.
Kirin‘s eyes widen as the monster begins to enter the hut. He is trapped. Morthos fearing that Kirin might be overwhelmed, leaps from the rooftop and plunges his blade into the Blackscale’s collar bone, delivering a fatal wound. The Blackscale, unaware it is already dead, bellows in surprise and falls to the ground.
“Thanks Morthos!” Kirin smiles.
Withdrawing the blade with a flourish, Morthos spins the dagger point down on his open palm and allows it to tip over his hand. He gracefully catches it by the grip.
“My pleasure.” Morthos winks with a roguish smile.
Suddenly Morthos is attacked from behind. One of the Blackscale’s faithful lizard pets, a Q’Barran Poisontongue, spits its venomous bile at Morthos. He is hit. His armor smokes as the poisonous acid burns through to his skin.
Morthos attacks the lizard.
“Heeellp!” screams Kohl, agonizing from the crushing grip of the giant ape.
Taveah, Miklos and Sejik slay two of the Poisontongues but not in time to aid their ally. The Gorillon snarls and bites deep into Kohl‘s neck. Kohl’s screams stop, his body goes limp. Disinterested in its lifeless prey, the Gorillon throws Kohl’s body to the ground and charges Sejik.
Morthos and Kirin finish the remaining lizard and see the charging Gorillon. Everyone focuses their attacks on the beast. It crashes to the floor in a bloody mess just short of Sejik‘s feet and breathes its final breath. Taveah rushes to Kohl’s crumpled form.
“Sejik, over here. Kohl is dying!” Taveah calls. She kneels by his body trying to stop the bleeding.
“What did I miss cousin?” smiles Kohl as he awakens.
“Everything, as usual.” Taveah laughs sarcastically.
